Vicenç Marco’s work is a dialogue with time and matter, an exploration of the vestiges that surround us and the inevitable process of returning to the origin. “Fragments of the whole” not only captures objects isolated from their context, but also focuses on the signs of their transformation: the rust that spreads like a printed memory, the cracks that record the fragility of what was once solid, the stains as traces of a use and a history.
For years, Vicenç has worked with these elements without being fully aware of them, fascinated by the signs of degradation and aging. Now, this look takes on a new dimension: they are the symptoms of a deeper process, the inexorable return of matter to nature. Everything that human beings create with materials extracted from the environment is, sooner or later, claimed by nature itself. The corrosion of metal, the decomposition of wood, the traces of time on paper… Each sign is proof of this subtle but constant struggle, of this unstoppable cycle in which nature decomposes and reintegrates what was once taken from it.
Using digital techniques and Giclée printing, Vicenç gives new life to these fragments in his art. Mediterranean colors, suggested textures and precise lines become a testament to this beauty hidden in transience.
“Fragments of the whole” is an invitation to observe the passage of time with different eyes, to understand that deterioration is not just loss, but an essential part of the cycle of matter.
