Quim Domene usually structures his works in thematic series, that is, he uses the same format, support and techniques based on a conceptual theme that unifies them. The series usually also aim to establish a dialogue in the place where they will be exhibited.

For this exhibition at Espai Art60, each work has lost its serial set to which it belongs. Individually, each work is part of groups that are not its own, like a kind of artistic miscegenation, although they are also presented in grouped families.

The chaos is ordered as a large visual frieze, in the manner of cabinets of curiosities or chambers of wonders. It is an encyclopedic collection of the author’s works, which form part of his visual universe and accompany him in his Workspace.

Cabinets of curiosities began to become popular among the wealthy classes in the 16th and 17th centuries. They were collections of objects of all kinds – especially the rarest and most exquisite – but also artistic objects, with the aim of trying to classify or encapsulate the new things that were being discovered.

The arrangement of the entire set also recalls the construction of an exquisite corpse, a poetic and visual game that the surrealists used to stretch the thread of a first image, but here it responds more to a visual result than a semantic one.
