Interconnection
Richard Martin 3/16/2024 to 5/12/2024

If we stop to think for a moment, everything around us has emerged from the creative process, large doses of chance and time to evolve as a species. The cornerstone of the project has been the search for the interconnection of forms and meanings, letting the unconscious emerge and following the concept of “open work” by Umberto Eco.

The unconscious, the connection and above all the spontaneity as an essential element of expression have been constant. I have discovered that when you let yourself be carried away in the project, the work itself leads you down an unexpected path and that, as you progress, it has a more complete meaning than the initial one. When I have wanted to rectify, show opposition and redirect it, it has not come out well. The work speaks to you if you know how to listen and observe. Too bad! Right at the end I am learning it. That is why, before continuing, I sit for a while and try to look for the interconnection, … and understand.

“Art is an adventure in an unknown world, different for each viewer”

Richard Martin

Born in 1968 in Zurich, his origins come from two very different cultures that have influenced the moment and way of working, where there is a constant search for balance between the logical and the more Mediterranean part.
